My First Daddy-Daughter Session

Hi everyone!

How is your week going so far?  It's been a long COUPLE weeks around here while my husband, Kris, has been in Korea for military training.  To be honest, we get a little lonely here without him.  To pass the time, I practiced my photography skills while Luna practiced a new skill of her own:  walking!

Kris is finally back so we packed a picnic and drove a mile down the road to Weymouth Center for the day.  While we were there, I wanted to snap a few photos of Kris and Lu.  By the time I was done, I had more than a few ... I had a few HUNDRED!  Whoops!  Thankfully, Kris was a trooper and didn't complain once :)  I really needed the practice!

Some photos were good, some were bad.  Some were blurry, ugh!  But some were JUST. PLAIN. PRICELESS.

Then there were a few photos that were ALMOST THERE.  Like this next one ... I love almost everything about it except the color looks off to me.  It doesn't have that clear, super-vibrant look that some of the other photos have:

Not sure what I mean?  Take a look at these next two photos.  They were shot almost back-to-back.  But the second picture is so much more vibrant!  Why is that?!  Someone please tell me!

Here are a couple examples of photos that I really love but aren't crystal clear.  See what I mean?

All in all, I think I kept about 50 out of 250 photos.  That's a 1/5 ratio which sounds pretty low.  But I'm still learning so I'll take it :)  Also, I forgot to mention that I changed my lens today.  Before, I was using a 25 mm lens - today I switched to the 50 mm.  I really enjoyed working with the longer lens!  It meant that I didn't have to stand so close.  I could give Kris and Luna some space to do their own thing while I shot from further back.

Finally, it was time to head home:

Are you planning any upcoming photo shoots?  If so, how are you preparing?  Have you been practicing on the side? I want to hear everything!

Until next time,

Lace
